Launched with a tickle and sped by a prayer, Quacky Simone waddled to victory , giving owner-trainer Robert Duck (a human being) of Bosque, N.M., his second straight Great American Duck Race championship.
Mr. Duck picked up $1,500 as his entry defeated seven other finalists in Sunday's annual event. More than 5,000 people and 400 ducks attended the weekend gathering, which included preliminary races, a beautiful-duckling contest, the selection of a duck queen, and a tortilla toss.
