Reagan and GOP leaders map legislative strategy

President Reagan called a meeting Wedenesday with GOP congressional leaders to map strategy for the final days of the 97th Congress.

There are several administration-backed bills still pending in Congress, and Mr. Reagan wants to make a last push for passage before the House and Senate adjourn in mid-October.

The President personally entered the fight for his proposed tuition-tax-credit plan by agreeing to stiffen provisions that ensure money does not go to schools that discriminate on the basis of race. Other legislation of interest to the President is the anti-abortion measure and a proposed constitutional amendment requiring a balanced budget.
