Inside Report

Come back, Peter! Most is forgiven!

Is Lord Peter Carrington going to be offered another post in the Thatcher Cabinet? Carrington resigned as foreign secretary when Argentina surprised Britain by invading the Falklands last April 2. At the time he felt it was the end of politics for him. Yet he's back in the limelight. He's a consultant with Kissinger Associates, which offers advice to firms doing business abroad, and is General Electric Company Ltd.'s new chairman. Prime Minister Thatcher retains a high regard for him, and he's well respected in London's financial and banking center. Officials close to Thatcher don't rule out Carrington's return to the Cabinet after the next British elections, perhaps in an industrial portfolio.
