Wanted: spare part for 13-story elevator

Q. Might any of your readers have parts for an old elevator made by the now-defunct Illinois Elevator Company? The sheave of our 13-story 1929 elevator is worn out and we cannot find a replacement. S.H. Kraines, Chicago

A. For the benefit of our unelevated readers, including myself, a sheave is the metal groove at the top of an elevator over which the cable runs.
