Geneticists produce mice the size of rats

In an advance in genetic engineering, scientists implanted rat genes into fertilized mouse eggs, resulting in mice nearly twice the normal size.

Scientists at four laboratories who conducted the experiments, using the rat hormone that controls growth, said the results could have major implications for the livestock industry.
