Defeated Japan politician declared suicide victim

Ichiro Nakagawa, an unsuccessful candidate in November's election for Japanese prime minister, committed suicide Sunday, police said Wednesday. Mr. Nakagawa was a leader of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party and a former agriculture and science minister. He finished last in a four-way race in a party primary election, winning 7 percent of the vote.
