Salvadorean troops regain control of strategic town

Government troops recaptured the strategic town of Jocoaitique, opening the way for the final phase of an antiguerrilla drive in El Salvador's northeastern Morazan Province, Defense Minister Jose Guillermo Garcia said.

He told Reuters that within the next few days his troops would flush out left-wing guerrillas from Morazan and restore peace to the province.
