29 fleeing Haiti by boat led into Fort Lauderdale

A 50-foot sailboat carrying 29 Haitians was escorted into Fort Lauderdale by the US Coast Guard, a spokesman said. It was the largest group of refugees from the impoverished Caribbean nation to reach Florida for more than a year. The group included a six-month-old baby, a Coast Guard officer said.
