Court in Chile orders opposition figures freed Santiago, Chile

A Chilean court ordered the release from jail of Gabriel Valdes, head of the Christian Democratic Party, and five other opposition members. The court ruled there was insufficient evidence to prosecute them on charges of violating national-security laws.

They were held in connection with the call for a day of protest against the military government Tuesday. Two women were killed and more than 450 arrested during the demonstrations.
