Chrysler profit sets another record

The Chrysler Corporation said it made a record $310.3 million profit in the second quarter, surpassing its old record of $172.1 million posted in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, leaders from the United Automobile Workers are meeting today in Chrysler plants in Detroit. The Chrysler Council is to decide whether to open negotiations early with the automaker in hopes of winning a pay raise for 45,000 US workers.
