White House says it's not considering Salvador plan

The White House denied a report that President Reagan is considering a plan that would more than double the number of US military adivisers in El Salvador to 125 next year.

Sunday's New York Times quoted senior administration officials as saying the Defense Department had submitted such a plan to Reagan last week. The officials were also quoted as saying the new plan would permit US advisers to accompany Salvadorean forces into the field, although they would still be forbidden to engage in any form of combat with left-wing insurgents.
