Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.

He spoiled a bid by Evelyn Gandy to become the state's first woman governor. Mr. Allain now faces wealthy Republican businessman Leon Bramlett of Clarksdale and black independent Charles Evers in the Nov. 8 general election.
