Stone takes rebels' note to Salvadorean officials

Special US envoy Richard Stone carried a message back to El Salvador Wednesday from Salvadorean rebels accusing the US of intransigence and warning that Washington holds the key to any political solution in the four-year civil war. Stone met with the rebels in Costa Rica.

The rebels termed their first meeting with the Salvadorean government Peace Commission in Bogota, Colombia, on Monday ''more or less optimistic.'' (See related story, page 7.)
