President attacks critics on his efforts for women

A defensive President Reagan challenged his critics Monday to examine his record of placing women in top government jobs and to stop ''talking in generalities.'' Although White House pollster Richard Wirthlin conceded that Mr. Reagan has failed to bridge a wide political rift with women, he said the President ''is decisively beating'' former Vice-President Walter Mondale and Sen. John Glenn in polls of male voters.
