Polish dissidents said to reject amnesty offer
Friends and relatives of Poland's most prominent political prisoners Saturday said all would reject an offer by the Communist regime to drop charges against dissidents if they leave Poland.
Government spokesman Jerzy Urban, who first disclosed the proposed deal to deport 11 prominent dissidents, broadened his offer. Mr. Urban said ''an overwhelming majority of people under arrest'' could be freed if Western countries would take them in. Poland has said the 11 leading members of the Solidarity trade union and the dissident group KOR, can go into exile instead of facing trial on charges of plotting to overthrow Communist rule. The 11 include Jacek Kuron, a founder of KOR, and Andrzej Gwiazda, a Solidarity leader.
