It's back to the jungles for endangered monkeysone
Fifteen endangered golden-haired monkeys are on their way to the jungles of Brazil in the first attempt by scientists to introduce captivity-bred primates into the wild. The golden lion tamarin monkeys, who hail from the National Zoo here, will spend the next six months in Rio de Janiero eating native foods and learning to forage. They will then be released into their natural habitat, Brazil's coastal rain forest, which has been reduced to 2 percent of its original acreage and where only about 150 of the monkeys remain.
