Poland says it arrested two US spies last month

Polish authorities disclosed the arrest of two alleged US spies Monday and accused the Warsaw embassies of some NATO countries of conducting intelligence activities and subversion in Poland.

Interior Minister Czeslaw Kiszczak told parliament the men were Jacek Jurzak, a Polish scientist living near the Czechoslovak border, and Norbert Adamachek, a West German visiting Poland on business.

The men were involved in gathering military, defense, and political information, the government said.
