Top court lets stand ruling backing Baby Doe parents
The US Supreme Court let stand Monday a New York ruling in favor of Long Island parents who decided against life-prolonging surgery for their child, diagnosed as severely handicapped.
The justices acted on a challenge to New York decisions by the former court-appointed guardian of the infant, known as Baby Jane Doe. Still pending in federal court is the administration's suit to examine the baby's medical records.
