Expelled Soviet diplomats leave Bangladesh capital

Seven Soviet diplomats and two officials left Bangladesh Tuesday after being expelled by the military government, official sources said. The expulsion order was given on Nov. 30, two days after antigovernment violence flared in Dacca, but the Soviet Embassy asked for the diplomsts' departure to be delayed.

Five other diplomats returned to Moscow Dec. 26 after authorities ordered their expulsion for involvement in nondiplomatic activities.

The sources said at least four of the 12 diplomats ordered out had been expelled by other countries on spying charges.
