Slovak Catholic clergy condemn missile siting

The heads of seven Roman Catholic dioceses in Czechoslovakia have expressed concern about the danger of nuclear war, the Austrian Catholic news agency Kathpress said Tuesday.

''We declare with one voice that the production, stationing, and deployment of nuclear weapons is a crime against humanity and must be condemned from the ethical and theological point of view,'' the heads of the seven dioceses in Slovakia said in a joint pastoral letter.

Czechoslovakia, along with East Germany, has been chosen by the Warsaw Pact as the site for new nuclear weapons as a response to new US nuclear missiles being stationed in Western Europe.
