Cranston urges stand against nuclear war

Alan Cranston, who has dropped out of the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, said Friday he will push for a strong antinuclear plank in the party's convention platform this July.

Mr. Cranston proposes a mutual freeze of testing if the Soviet Union goes along, a pledge not to use weapons first in war, and a presidential summit with the Soviet leader to initiate steps for arms reductions.

The California Senator was considered the ''peace candidate'' before he stepped aside following the New Hampshire primary.
