Kuwait also seeking US Stinger missiles
Kuwait has made an ''informal request'' to the United States for Stinger antiaircraft missiles to protect against attacks spilling over from the Iran-Iraq war in the Persian Gulf, the Defense Department acknowledged Thursday.
''I understand we have an informal request for Stingers from Kuwait,'' Pentagon spokesman Michael Burch told a briefing. But he said, ''At present, the United States does not intend to sell any additional Stingers to the Gulf region.''
Saudi Arabia recently received 400 from the United States.
