Right-wing Salvadorean plans visit to Washington

Right-wing politician Roberto d'Aubuisson left El Salvador for United States and will meet with several US senators this week, sources in his Republican Nationalist Alliance said Saturday. They said he was expected to arrive in Washington on Wednesday.

On Saturday, the New York Times quoted a Reagan administration official in Washington and two sources in El Salvador as saying US intelligence agents had uncovered a plot by a group of members of Mr. d'Aubuisson's party to kill US Ambassador Thomas Pickering. The sources told the Times that d'Aubuisson allegedly was involved in the plan.

D'Aubuisson, who lost the May 6 presidential election to centrist Jose Napoleon Duarte, has been linked with Salvadorean death squads.
