A midsummer competition

Now we know. Samuel Taylor Coleridge received 10 guineas from Britain's Royal Literary Fund, a philanthropic institution. Suppose you are Coleridge, Louisa May Alcott, or any other bygone author in English. Write an application for financial aid in your own inimitable style. Describe a literary project or other reason for a grant. That's all you have to do to enter our midsummer competition. No more than 100 words, please, and only one application per entrant. None can be returned. Address: The Home Forum Competition, The Christian Science Monitor, One Norway Street, Boston, Mass. 02115. Entries received by Aug. 6 will be considered for certificates to be announced Aug. 27.
