Walesa says amnesty meets demands, offers unity . . .

The large-scale amnesty declared in honor of communist Poland's 40th anniversary entered its second full day Wednesday, with 2,200 offenders already released, among them 52 political prisoners.

Lech Walesa and other Solidarity leaders said the sweeping amnesty answered the most important social demand and provided an opportunity for national reconciliation.
