Poland to build monument to mark Warsaw uprising

After 40 years, a monument is finally to be built in the Polish capital commemorating the tragic Warsaw uprising against Nazi rule, which killed 250,000 Poles and left Warsaw in rubble.

But some veterans of the unsuccessful revolt planned to boycott thededication ceremonies because the monument will not acknowledge the anti-Soviet goals of the uprising.

For many years, authorities in this Soviet-bloc country chose to ignore the uprising.
