US to unveil proposed rules governing high-tech exports

The Commerce Department will make known this week how it has redrafted its controversial proposals for tightening security around the export of high technology equipment.

Government officials say the new rules strike a balance between the Reagan administration's desire to prevent sensitive US equipment from reaching Soviet-bloc countries and the export interests of American companies.
