Queen Elizabeth to begin 22-day visit to Canada, US

Queen Elizabeth II departs today on a 22-day trip to Canada and thence to visit Kentucky and Wyoming for a look at her favorite animal, the horse. Buckingham Palace calls her eight days in Kentucky and Wyoming a private visit, and the Queen is to be shielded from news media in the United States except for a handful of public appearances.

Her husband Prince Philip will accompany the Queen in Canada from the Atlantic province of New Brunswick as far as Ontario. He returns to London on Oct. 5, while the monarch continues west to Winnipeg, Manitoba, and then to the US on Oct. 7.
