Emergency spending bill approved in Congress

Congress approved an emergency spending bill Tuesday night to fund major programs until a permanent money measure is enacted to carry the government through 1985. Adopted by voice vote, the bill provides funding through midnight tonight, and it marked the fourth time in a week Congress resorted to a short-term financing to keep federal agencies operating.
