A new Boston Globe editor to replace retiring Winship

Thomas Winship, editor of the Boston Globe since 1965, is retiring Jan. 1 and will be succeeded by Michael C. Janeway, now managing editor of the Sunday Globe.

Mr. Janeway became editor of the Globe's Sunday Magazine in 1978. He previously worked at Newsday and Newsweek magazine and had been executive editor of The Atlantic Monthly.
