N. Korea demands apology and return of Soviet defector

The Korean Military Armistice Commission scheduled a meeting for today to discuss Friday's firefight at the truce village of Panmunjom. The shooting, the most serious incident at the village since 1976, erupted when a Soviet national fled to the South across the military demarcation line dividing North and South Korea.

A North Korean broadcast monitored in Tokyo also demanded the return of the Soviet student.
