Thai troops repel Vietnamese incursion

Thai troops and planes repelled Vietnamese soldiers Sunday who crossed into Thailand while fighting to hold a captured guerrilla base on the Kampuchean (Cambodian) border, Thai military officials said. It was the sixth day of fighting at the Nong Samet (Rithisen) resistance camp that Vietnamese forces overran on Christmas Day.

The attack forced evacuation of 23,000 civilians from the Kampuchean Peoples National Liberation Front headquarters at Ampil, 16 miles from Nong Samet.
