Baryshnikov by Tharp (PBS, 9-10 p.m.): Repeat of classic ``Great Performances'' of innovative Twyla Tharp dances performed by Mikhail Baryshnikov and the American Ballet Theatre.

Windows on Women (PBS, 10-11 p.m.): Ruby Dee introduces a retrospective look at PBS women's programming in honor of the United Nations Decade for Women. SATURDAY

Newton's Apple (PBS 7:30-8 p.m.): Ira Flatow makes science fun for the family in a fascinating continuing series. SUNDAY

A Christmas Carol (CBS, 9-11 p.m.): George C. Scott is Scrooge in repeat of Dickens classic.

A Land Untamed (PBS, 10-11 p.m.): Segment 2 of ``Lone Star,'' dealing with the Indian tribes who preceded the Spanish in Texas. Host is Larry Hagman, a.k.a. J. R. Ewing. MONDAY

Palaces of Reason and Delight (PBS, 10-11 p.m.): Part 2 of ``Treasure Houses of Britain,'' focusing on Houghton Hall, Drumlanrig Castle, and Burghley. TUESDAY

A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols (PBS, 10-11 p.m.): From the chapel of King's College in Cambridge, a program of readings and carols. WEDNESDAY

A California Christmas (PBS, 9-10 p.m.): A musical salute, filmed at Newport Beach around the lighting of the nation's tallest Christmas tree. Host is Pat Boone, and performers include Glen Campbell, Jos'e Feliciano, and many others.
