My favorite neighbor, Charles-le-Roi maintains the dignity of his royal name (shortened by everyone to Charlie), answers the harangue summoning him home neatly pacing his delicate toes with rhythmic ease and grace to a step born to class. His golden fur is tipped with gleams of blue sky. Tail straight out in a pure elegant line, over the pebble-surfaced pavement, between saunter and trot, cool and steady without the least sign of haste, nose deft in air to a flurry of echoes, fast enough, he approaches his tongue-lashing, poised for a hard time but like a practiced dancer won't back down or fail to take the risk again.
