Hawaiian Rainbow (PBS, 9-10:30 p.m.): ``Summer Night Music'' examines the traditional music of the Hawaiian Islands. Whoopi Goldberg (HBO/pay cable, 10-11 p.m.): Whoopi as her stock character ``Fontaine,'' live from California.

SUNDAY Goodbye, Mr. Chips (PBS, 9-10 p.m.): ``Masterpiece Theatre'' starts a repeat of its superb three-part version of this James Hilton classic.

MONDAY The Cavanaughs (CBS, 8:30-9 p.m.): Art Carney joins Barnard Hughes in first of eight new episodes in return of this fine sitcom about Boston Irish Catholics. Andr'e Kertesz of the Cities (PBS, 9-10 p.m.): ``American Masters'' profiles the life and work of this master photographer. The Kitchen Presents (PBS, 10-10:30 p.m.): ``Alive From Off Center'' presents three experimental avant-garde videos.

TUESDAY Memories Then & Now (CBS, 8-9 p.m.): New magazine show relives extraordinary moments from past and then fast-forwards to present. John Ritter hosts with many surprise guests. Oddest segment: the senior proms of George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Friends and Neighbors (PBS, 9-10 p.m.): Part 5 of ``The Struggles for Poland'' examines the Polish Army in World War II and its government in exile in London. The Good Fight (PBS, 10-11 p.m.): ``P.O.V.'' (Point of View) presents a film by independent filmmakers Noel Buckner, Mary Dore, and Sam Sills which traces the careers of pre-World War II volunteers who fought fascism in the Spanish Civil War.

WEDNESDAY A Salute to Broadway: Chorus Lines (PBS, 9-10 p.m.): ``In Performance at the White House'' presents finale of three-part series about Broadway choruses, taped on White House lawn. Hosted by the Reagans with Marvin Hamlisch as emcee, starring Shirley Jones, Stubby Kaye, and Donna McKechnie.

THURSDAY Championship Golf (ESPN/cable 1-3 p.m.): First-round PGA competition live from Edmond, Okla. Carolinas Invitational Preview (USA/cable, 8-9 p.m.): Beginning of a weekend sports exhibition featuring several US Olympic teams. Pygmalion (A&E/cable 9-11:30 p.m.; also 1 a.m.): Peter O'Toole and Margot Kidder star in theater version of George Bernard Shaw classic that inspired ``My Fair Lady.''
