SATURDAY PGA Championship Golf (ABC, 2 p.m.; also Sunday 2 p.m.): Final rounds, live from Oklahoma. Tahiti: Fire Waters (SuperStation TBS/cable, 9:45-10:45 p.m., after baseball; also repeated Aug. 26 and Sept. 5 and 10): Cousteau explores the effects of natural phenomena as well as nuclear ``civilization'' on French Polynesia.

SUNDAY Tidy Endings (HBO/pay cable, 9-10 p.m.; also Aug. 18, 22, 27, 30): Harvey Fierstein writes and stars in moving drama about the battle between a wife and lover for control of the memory of an AIDS victim. Also stars Stockard Channing. Hollywood: The Golden Years (A&E/cable, 10-11 p.m.; repeated at 2 a.m.): First of six-part history of RKO Radio Pictures, hosted by Ed Asner, although it is British Broadcasting Corporation product. Fascinating inside stories, straightforward interviews, and lots of fabulous film clips make this one of the best pop film-history series ever. A Conversation in Maine with Margaret Chase Smith (PBS, 10-11 p.m.): Documentary/interview traces career of former senator.

MONDAY Reading Rainbow (PBS, 5-5:30 p.m., check local listings): New segments of this fine children's program air Aug. 15 through 19. In a Garden/Three Sisters Who Are Not Sisters (PBS, 10-10:30 p.m.): ``Alive From Off Center'' presents two avant-garde post-modern interpretations of Gertrude Stein's poetry.

TUESDAY Bright Days of Tomorrow (PBS, 9-10 p.m.): Part 6 of ``The Struggles For Poland'' examines the Polish Communist Party struggle for power from 1945 to '56. Metropolitan Avenue (PBS, 10-11 p.m.): ``P.O.V. (Point Of View)'' presents a film by independent filmmaker Christine Noschese about women who strive to combine new roles and old values in a changing society.

WEDNESDAY 16 Days of Glory (PBS, 8-9 p.m.): Next-to-last segment in six-part series of dramatic tales of the 1984 Summer Olympics. Vietnam War Story (HBO, 10-10;30 p.m.): Fine fictional series delves into the self-image of the men who fought the war. On Earth As It Is in Heaven (PBS, 10-11:30 p.m.): Final part of repeat of superb, probing three-part ``Moyers: God and Politics.''
