MADE IN USA POPULAR

United States consumers increasingly and overwhelmingly prefer to ``buy American.'' That, at least, is what a survey by Cambridge Reports found. The survey found the number of consumers making a conscious decision against purchasing a product specifically because it was foreign made has nearly doubled in three years - from 21 percent in 1985 to 37 percent in 1988.

The survey results were reported by Crafted With Pride in USA Council, Inc.

Rural Americans - those living in areas or communities with less than 2,500 residents - are the population segment most strongly inclined to buy US-made products, the survey found.
