An appellate court has agreed to hear arguments on a controversial effort to close five Boston public schools. The court agreed Wednesday to hold a hearing yesterday on the Boston School Committee's bid to reverse a Suffolk Superior Court order barring closure of schools.

The School Committee's court filing argued that Suffolk Superior Court Judge David Roseman intruded on the committee's managerial power to close schools, said an attorney for parents opposed to closing the schools. Judge Roseman ruled Tuesday that a school committee vote to close the schools and consolidate four others was invalid because a proper public hearing was not held.
