In the Depths of My Loneliness

Sinking a Stone Into the Waves

The eyes of my loneliness reach out into the depths of the spheres, out where the sky becomes a sad music, out where the star becomes a tear, out where light embraces darkness. There my heart becomes a stone, on which an eagle rests, and beats his wings over my life.... The poems on this page were translated by the poet's daughter, Catalina, except for `In the Depths' which was translated by Christiana Bajenaru. They were originally published in Romanian in a book titled 'In Nobody's Shadow,' by the Liberty Publishing House in New York.
