There wasn't a single snowflake Dancing upon the air; Even in mid-December Bruce's Hill was bare. Then softly one night, like petals Of bridal wreath, it fell, The snow that every youngster Longed for, weaving its spell.

It snowed till the hill was whiter Than surf. Next day when school Let out, we sledded through daylight Till the first star gleamed like a jewel.
