New Director Appointed At Mother Church in Boston

A FORMER Houston resident has been named to the Board of Directors of The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, Mass. Mrs. Olga M. Chaffee is a life-long Christian Scientist who has long been active in her denomination's ministry of healing as a Christian Science teacher and practitioner. The Christian Science Church features a strongly democratic form of government in its nearly 3,000 branches worldwide and a central authority represented by The Mother Church, headquartered in Boston. The Church is governed by the Manual of The Mother Church administered by a five-member Board of Directors.

Before her appointment to the Board, Mrs. Chaffee served as editor of religious broadcasting for ``The Herald of Christian Science.'' These shortwave-radio and television programs on Christian Science in Spanish and English are broadcast in Houston and throughout the world.

While in Houston, Mrs. Chaffee helped establish Christian Science worship services in Spanish, taught Sunday School, and served as a First Reader, leading Sunday and Wednesday services in her local church.

She has served The Mother Church as a field assistant in the Church Activities Department and is a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship.
