FISH WITHOUT BONES

Robots guided by ultrasonic imaging will remove bones from fish in the processing plants of the future, predicts the Food Channel, an industry publication. The robots will also be able to remove shell particles from crabmeat. In a cover story on ``Seafood in the 21st Century,'' the newsletter also foresees genetically tailored fish and dramatic improvements in the quality of frozen food. Food consumption is expected to rise from 16 to 25 pounds per person in the United States over the next 30 years.
