AS for Casey's credit in the victory, the question is not whether Reagan could have been elected without him but whether he could have been nominated without Casey. The campaign had been demoralized and near bankruptcy when he took over. And in a game where victory has a thousand fathers, key participants were ready to grant Casey paternity.
