FRANCHISE GROWTH STRONG

Despite a sluggish economy, the nation's franchised businesses grew 6.1 percent in 1991, moving from $714 billion in sales in 1990 to $758 billion last year, according to the International Franchise Association. The total represents 35 percent of all retail sales in the United States.
