Ice, Arrested

See how rough the ice is here above this water. Caught in its surges, it jumps and bulges, stands in peaks, cascades and falls, Ice has sealed something turbulent and hot beneath it. Something like fear or anger, doubt, perhaps, was arrested, piled to freeze and is almost frozen. But it still speaks in these set shapes - determinations that wait on thaw or, sometimes, summer to release them, when they'll resume, then, their full expression - hard waves lunging strongly forward, rolling, reaching what they were bound for.
