CORPORATE VOLUNTEERISM GOOD FOR FIRMS

* A study of corporate volunteer programs has found that they provide companies with competitive advantages, the Conference Board reports.

More than three-quarters of firms surveyed reported that volunteer programs benefited the company's strategic goals and improved employee retention. About 90 percent found that the programs build teamwork skills, improve morale, and attract better employees.
