Let's be cricket about cricket

In the article, "Losing Just Isn't Cricket," April 21, the author writes, "Long ago, cricket's white-clad players earned the description `flanneled fools.' " This last phrase quotes Rudyard Kipling expressing his condemnation of those who took part in organized sport while the nation was at war. The term relates to special circumstances, but your correspondent infers that this withering criticism applies to all cricketers. Jack Ouseley, West Sussex, England
