WORTH NOTING ON TV

* THURSDAY

A Conversation With Ross Perot (C-Span, 8-10 p.m., E.T.): Brian Lamb conducts a live interview with the chatty businessman-politician. The show also offers a live viewer call-in and a tour of Perot's Dallas office.

Cheers (NBC, 8-9:30 p.m.): How many times can you say goodbye? That depends on who's saying it - and on how many ads can be sold while doing it. In the case of "Cheers," that's a lot of ads, so the popular series (11 seasons, 26 Emmys) is reoffering it's final episode. This actually may be a better way to see it - without the hoopla attending its original airing on May 23 and its second on May 27. The story line finds Diane Chambers (Shelley Long) returning and re-igniting her old romance with Sam (Ted D anson). The other characters find their lives changing, too.

Something tells me the network has the somewhat unrealistic hope that this marathon edition of the series will become a classic, to be revisited periodically by popular demand, like "The Wizard of Oz." *FRIDAY

The Building (CBS, 9:30-10 p.m.) If you can't wait for the launching of the fall series, you might sample this new comedy - call it an interim miniseries - that's airing for six Fridays. It's about an actress (Bonnie Hunt) who returns to Chicago after being jilted by her fiance. Somewhat to her dismay, she is discovered by old friends, who inevitably realize she is still single and a kind of underdog.

Evening at Pops: Linda Ronstadt and Rosemary Clooney (PBS, 9-10 p.m.): Yes there is a generation gap here, and yes, they do come from different pop cultures. Yet the two artists complement each other in this concert. Ronstadt offers "I Get Along Without You Very Well," and other songs. Clooney, the veteran jazz interpreter and master of pop classics, sings numbers like "More Than You Know." Together they do "They Can't Take That Away from Me," "Time Flies," and "But Not for Me." Many of the arrangements are by Nelson Riddle, with whom Ronstadt recorded three albums.
