WORTH NOTING ON TV

World Team Skating Championships (CBS, 4:30-6 p.m.): Four teams - representing the United States, Canada, Europe, and Russia - vie in a new event cooked up for television and offering top ice skaters.

It's strictly a team effort - no individual scores are involved. The American 1992 Olympic gold medalist Kristi Yamaguchi and silver medalist Paul Wylie compete for the US, along with two-time US pairs champions Calla Urbanski and Rocky Marval, and the ice-dance team of Susie Wynne and Russ Witherby, two-time US championship silver medalists.

Other world-class skaters - among them Katarina Witt, Jayne Torville and Christopher Dean, Yekaterina Gordeyeva, and Sergei Grinkov - will be competing in the two day event, covered as part of CBS's ``Eye on Sports.''

The technical programs air Saturday, the artistic on Sunday (3-6 p.m.).

The Wonderful World of Disney: 40 Years of Television Magic (ABC, 8-10 p.m.): As its gushy title suggests, this whole show can be considered one big Disney commercial, but the company's TV history does embrace a lot of material worth reminiscing about. In this look back, programs like ``The Mickey Mouse Club,'' ``Davy Crockett,'' and other personal favorites are recalled by a roster of celebrities - among them former Vice President Dan Quayle, Margaret Cho, George Foreman, Tom Hanks, Elton John, Hayley Mills, Priscilla Presley, and many others.

Host Kirstie Alley jumps around Disneyland as she recounts the Disney decades, including Disneyland's televised opening ceremonies from Anaheim, Calif., on July 17, 1955, with an actor named Ronald Reagan as one of the hosts. And you can't blame Disney for using some material on this show that was not created for TV - like scenes from ``The Living Desert,'' the 1953 Oscar-winning nature movie that offered stunning footage, along with some memorably crass production gimmicks.
