Worth Noting on TV


Indianapolis 500 (ABC, 11a.m.-3:30 p.m.): It's a full day at the races. Viewers can tune in more than 10 hours of auto racing, beginning with the Indianapolis 500. Then the Championship Auto Racing Team, fresh from its split with the breakaway IRL, revs up the new US 500 (ESPN, 2-5:30 p.m.). And for a little NASCAR action, the green flag drops on the Coca-Cola 600 (TBS, 5-9:30 p.m.) - NASCAR's longest ride.

Hidden History of Boston

(History Channel, 9-10 p.m.): Boston journalist Mike Barnicle tours the Freedom Trail and other historical sites around the Bay State's historic capital. The show traces the city's 365-year history.

Dr. Seuss Specials (The Cartoon Network, 7-9 p.m.): Fire up the VCR: The Cartoon Network is showing two hours of Seuss classics. Help yourself to a serving of green eggs and ham in "Dr. Seuss on the Loose." The fanciful fun continues with "The Butter Battle Book," "The Lorax," and "The Hoober-Bloob Highway."

National Memorial Day Concert (PBS, 8-9:30): Ossie Davis hosts the annual concert on the Capitol's West Lawn. Honoring the women on the home front in World War II, the show features performances by Kenny Rogers and Christine Baranski, and readings by Gen. Colin Powell (ret.).


AFI Salute to Clint Eastwood (ABC, 10-11 p.m.): Hollywood turns out to honor the actor and Oscar-winning director ("Unforgiven") with the Lifetime Achievement Award in this film-clip-heavy tribute. While there is a memorable moment of co-host Jim Carrey doing his impression of Frank Sinatra singing "Dirty Harry: The Musical," Eastwood fans would be better off renting his videos.

P.O.V. (PBS, 10-11 p.m.) This keen-witted documentary follows the 1994 congressional campaign of Kevin Vigilante as he takes on the Kennedys. Vigilante loses both the race and his idealism to Patrick Kennedy (D) of Rhode Island, as he gets sucked into a morass of dirty campaign ads.
